Johannes Brahms' Wiegenlied, also referred to as Cradle Song, and Lullaby, is likely his most celebrated work. It was originally published in 1868 under the title of "Wiegenlied: Guten Abend, gute Nacht" ("Good evening, good night") and is included in the Op. 49 collection of five songs. The cradle song was dedicated to Brahms's friend, Bertha Faber, on the occasion of the birth of her second son, and is now sung to countless children by loving parents across the globe.
